Have you always wanted to make your own piece of furniture, but don't know where to start? At The Hague Workshop we are happy to help you!

At De Haagse Werkplaats we believe in the power of creativity and craftsmanship. That is why we offer the opportunity to receive guidance on your own project. We have all kinds of handy tools and machines with which you can achieve better results faster than when you work at home. However, these tools and machines are potentially dangerous and it is therefore essential that you know how to work with them properly and safely. When 'working with guidance' we take extra time to think along with you, teach you a few things and keep an eye on things.

What can you expect?

This concept is designed to provide you with the right guidance for your own project. Here's an overview of what to expect:

• Working yourself: This course is aimed at helping you work independently as much as possible. We are there to help you get started, ensure that you work safely and help you if you have any questions specific to your project. If you are looking for a course where you learn step-by-step about different techniques and types of wood, book one of our evening courses.
• Design: To save time, we strongly recommend coming up with a design in advance. Based on your own design, we can help you determine whether any adjustments may need to be made.
• Machines and tools: In our well-equipped workshop you will be introduced to various machines and tools required for woodworking. We teach you how to use them safely and effectively.
• Wood joints: An essential part of furniture making is understanding and mastering various wood joining techniques. We will help you choose and make strong and beautiful joints.
• Materials: We have various materials in stock such as wood, screws, drills and glue. Because we do not know in advance how small or how large the piece of furniture will be, these materials are not included. The wood is charged per meter and small materials (screws, drills, etc.) can be paid per piece in our self-service shop. So you only buy what you use. We charge comparable rates as in the average hardware stores.

At the end of the day you will have come a long way with your project and you will have learned, for example, how to finish beautifully with a router or make invisible wood connections with a Festool Domino.
